Clean dog ears >
1tbsp apple cider vinegar, 1tbsp witch hazel, 1/2tsp olive oil, wipe down with cotton balls and/or use squirt bottle in ear
Spa maintenance >
- Add 0.5 to 1oz per week depending on use (or 1oz every 2 weeks or after each use) of MPS and/or Chlorine (can also use chlorine-free Sanitizers are Leisure Time or Baqua)
- Use Nature2 to help sanitize when used regularly
- SPA heat level > in between last two marks for 100 degrees, turn down in summer
- spa runs 2x per day for 45min in summer – last year and up until then it was on 4x per day for 45min
1. Sanitize with Nature2 every 4-6 months (it gets inserted inside filter) – this sanitizes water by using minerals, it works in conjunction with the MPS (monopursulfate) oxidizer so it is necessary to test for MPS, you cannot test the amount of minerals; if using Nature2, you can use less MPS (or di-chlor) for maintenance
*the key is to kill the microorganisms with regular use of the SANITIZER and then OXIDIZE (shock) the water to remove the broken down organic material and other non-filterable material such as dirt, soap films, and perspiration
2. MPS is an oxidizer (non-chlorine shock) – Granular chlorine (aka, di-chlor) is a sanitizer. MPS is an excellent oxidizer, but also a good sanitizer. Additionally, unlike chlorine shock, you can use your hot tub almost immediately after shocking it with non-chlorine shock like MPS. You should wait at least twenty minutes before entering. There is also no odor and is more expensive than chlorine shock
3. Clean spa filter every few months > turn off spa, remove filter, rinse with high pressure nozzle then use green tub, add 1cup TSP per 5gal water, soak overnight OR soak in muriatic acid (soak 1hr in 1c/1gal water), soak again in TSP for 10min to neutralize acids, rinse with water and let dry to kill all remaining microbes
4. Change spa water every Oct (fill level is 1/2 to 2/3 up on skimmer opening) OR replace water every 3 months with regular use (or every 6 months to a year without)
*on start-up, use 1oz MPS OxySpa; pH and Alkalinity are usually good, but shock and sanitizer are necessary
To clean fireplace glass >
*Hot fires keep the glass clean
Wet newspaper and ash works better than anything
Hard water stains >
Use vinegar and baking soda to create a paste that will clean off hard water stains
Refrigerator >
Refrigerator air filter – remove by twisting counter clockwise / reset – hold for 3 seconds
Cutting board >
Use food grade mineral oil for treating cutting boards or chopping blocks
Cast iron >
Seasoning cast iron pots and grill grates – use canola oil since it has a higher burn off temperature – spread on grates with paper towel and bake oil on for 30min at 400F, when new do it a few times for best results, otherwise try to spread on light layer of oil as often as possible
To clean stainless steel (BBQ and appliances) >
Deep cleaning – scrub with 3/1 water and baking soda
Light cleaning – spray 50/50 white vinegar and water, leave for 1-2min, then wipe in direction of “grain” with microfiber cloth
Hand soap >
Make foaming handsoap with 2tbsp liquid dish soap, bodywash, or other dense liquid soap
Computer backups (using FBackup) >
“Home Pictures and Video” are backed up to 4TB(E) hard drive every Sunday at 10pm (takes about 4hrs)
All other files are backed up to 1TB(E) hard drive every Saturday at 10pm (takes about 3hrs)
QB and Quicken files are backed up to 30GB(G) USB stick drive
other backups >

Sony remote control button “learning” (old?) >
hold SET button for 3 seconds, press the component button desired, press the button to “teach” (if SET button flashes twice, select another button to teach or clear that button), press the button to “learn” on the other remote (if SET flashes 5 times, try again or the button is possibly not “learnable”), press another “teach” and “learn” button to program more buttons, or press SET again to finish
To clear a specific button for a specific component — hold SET button for 3 seconds, hold the component button and press the button to erase, press SET again to finish

Generator >
Maintaining start-up battery
Champion Power Equipment 9375 generator (model 100891) > 9375 starting watts and 7500 running watts on gasoline (run time 10hrs, fuel tank capacity is 7.7gal) and 8400 starting watts and 6750 running watts on propane (run time5.5hrs – generator output to house is 240v via interlock on main panel and generator display should also read 60hz which is the general rating for most household appliances
Turning on generator >
1-turn off all breakers in main panel, don’t turn on generator breaker yet
2-connect power cord from generator to main panel
3-connect gas line to propane tank
4-turn on gas tank, choke generator, hit switch to start generator
5-turn on generator breaker in main panel
6-turn on only house breakers with a check mark
7-done
Boat winter maintenance >
> pontoon – remove battery, add fuel stabilizer making sure fuel is low in tank
> ski boat – remove battery, add fuel stabilizer making sure fuel is low in tank, drain water from block via petcocks
Misc 2-stroke engine maintenance > spark plug, air filter, fuel filter, empty gas or add preservative
String trimmer maintenance > remove screw and add grease to trimmer head
Chainsaw sharpening >
3/8in LP chain pitch, use a 5/32 or 7/32 file
*it takes about 10-15min per blade
*only go in forward motion on blade if doing it by hand with file
*if using Dremel, use lower speed for better grinding (level 2) and file down rake a little bit since blade is get filled down at a lower angle
The right sharpening angle depends on the saw chain and the wood that you want to cut. The sharpening angle will generally be between 25° and 35° – the harder the wood, the greater the angle. To maintain the correct angle, we recommend that you use a sharpening grid or a filing gauge as an aid
Ryobi carb adjustment >
> Use main throttle adjustment for idle
> Right screw adjustment when throttle wide open to where it sounds best (turn counterclockwise to increase fuel) – from closed, 2 full turns open seems to be good
> Left screw adjust for best fuel flow at start and when idling (turn counterclockwise to increase fuel) – from closed, 3 full turns open seems to be good > turn this one counterclockwise a little if not starting
Echo carb adjustment >
> Use main throttle adjustment for idle
> Remove orange “limiter” caps on carb screws if necessary to adjust carb completely
> If necessary, screw carb screws down all the way and back out 1.5 turns (use a line on the adjustment tool for reference) to get it stated and then make adjustments from there
> See Ryobi right and left screw adjustments for reference
